I strongly believe that each student has an individual and unique style of learning that requires their very own personal style of tuition. Whether it be visual, audio or multi-sensory, each lesson is tailored to enrich the student's learning experience. I like to create a warm, friendly and relaxed environment where all students can feel at home and leave with that sense of joy that music-making brings.

I recommend a trial lesson for all new starters to come along for a friendly chat and an introduction to the instrument. If you already have your own flute, please do bring it along to the lesson and make sure it is in good working order ( e.g. isn't in need of a service). If not, please don't worry as I do have a spare Yamaha flute that I use for teaching that you are more than welcome to use. During your trial, we can discuss renting and buying a flute in detail if needed so don't feel you need to rush out to purchase one beforehand.

Are you are currently studying for an ABRSM graded exam? I provide tuition from Grade 1 all the way through to Grade 8+ at a pace that works for you. On the initial lesson, we will discuss your previous experience and discover your unique learning style to build a custom learning plan around you. If you find exams particularly stressful and struggle with exam nerves, don't panic! I have a wide range of techniques and methods to ease those nerves and help you feel and perform at your best on the day.

These tools include flute fingering charts (as well as real images and descriptions to help avoid confusion), practice tips, posture exercises, a sample practice log and access to the Ask Abi forum where you and other students can ask any questions that crop-up during practice.
